A small country with big city pride
The Netherlands is compact, but its cities have very distinct characters, and people are loyal to theirs. Amsterdam is the name the world knows, yet Dutch pride lives just as strongly in every other city and town.
Gezellig
There is one Dutch word that people living abroad mention again and again: gezellig. It describes a warm, sociable, comfortable atmosphere, and it applies to a café, an evening with friends, a living room or a birthday. Its absence is one of the things people notice most after moving away.
Everyday life
The daily rhythm is part of the identity too: cycling everywhere in any weather, bread with sweet toppings at breakfast, a drink with colleagues after work. These ordinary habits are what Dutch people abroad describe when they talk about home.
What we design here
Designs for the Netherlands start with cities, canals, bikes and the everyday humour of Dutch life. Everything is original, with no official emblems or borrowed marks.
